For polymer-based additive manufacturing it is a goal to establish the physical mechanisms of, and computational prediction of the actual surface development in the polymers in 3D printing of thermoplastics.
Different process principles are investigated and developed for realizing pilot production with additive manufacturing techniques. In metal-based additive manufacturing focus is also on establishing multi-material solutions for obtaining specific bulk and surface properties, achieved via a combination of both experimental work and numerical simulation.
